Helen holds a Masters of Psychology (Clinical) and has over eight years of psychology experience. She is a warm, non-judgemental and genuine clinician who loves working collaboratively with individuals. She is a passionate psychologist and believes strongly in breaking the stigma around mental health. Helen works with adolescents and adults and is committed to supporting individuals to lead more fulfilling lives, reach their goals, grow and improve their quality of life.

Helen has psychology experience within private practice, community centre, university clinic, inpatient and outpatient hospital, school, employment services, and volunteer organisation settings. She has worked with children, adolescents and adults with a range of psychological issues.

Helen has experience treating anxiety and depression issues, panic, social anxiety, specific phobias, OCD, bipolar disorder, anger issues, self-harm, suicidality, emotion regulation difficulties, Borderline Personality disorder, trauma and addiction issues. She is also experienced in supporting individuals through stress management, relationship difficulties, friendship difficulties, workplace issues, bullying, school adjustment issues, school refusal, self-esteem issues, improving assertiveness communication, life transitions, grief and loss, chronic physical and medical health issues, pain management and addictions. Helen is a very understanding practitioner, having worked with individuals from various walks of life including various cultural backgrounds, LGBTIQ individuals, people with physical disabilities, ATSI individuals, and unemployed individuals.

Helen uses a compassionate person-centred approach when working with individuals. She is skilled in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Helen enjoys tailoring therapy to individuals’ needs and goals and provides a safe space to be heard and understood.

Helen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney and postgraduate studies at Macquarie University. She holds a Master of Psychology (Clinical) from the Australian College of Applied Psychology and her research thesis investigated perfectionistic thinking, rumination, worry and psychological distress.

Helen consults at Calvert & Associates Psychology on Fridays and Saturdays.
